AYSO SOCCER – REGION 7 – EXTRA TRYOUTS

EXTRA is a program that offers organized soccer for players who want to play at a more competitive level. Club soccer teams are in place in many parts of the country, but for those who want to play harder and still be a part of AYSO, EXTRA is perfect.

EXTRA gives athletes whose interests and abilities lead them to a more progressive soccer experience. You can feel secure knowing your child is part of a trusted organization and will be given fair playing time. EXTRA doesn’t take away from the regular program, but adds to the strength of the organization by keeping players and their families in AYSO.

EXTRA teams will play against other EXTRA teams within AYSO Section 1D.  The Extra teams will play each other during the traditional fall season (10-14 games) and will have playoffs at the end of the season. Please keep in mind that the Extra program will run separate from the regular season schedule and Extra players will not be eligible for regional All-Stars play.

AYSO 2017 R7 Extra Flyer FINAL (1)

SILENT SATURDAY THIS WEEKEND OCTOBER 15th and 16th

Silent Saturday is a game day where parents and coaches don’t talk to, yell instructions to, or even vocally cheer for the players during the game.  The purpose is to let the players learn and enjoy the game for themselves and with their teammates.  Kids need to make their own decisions in soccer, right or wrong, to develop as successful players. This helps them think on their feet during a game and not rely on the instructions their parents or coaches are yelling from the sidelines (which they usually can’t hear, much less process, during the game anyway).
1.    Parents can still clap, but may not say anything verbally. Encourage parents to be creative by bringing a rally towel or making fun signs.
2.    Coaches may not yell any direction to players. They can give instruction quietly on the sideline.
3.    Referees should ensure that everyone is following directions and issue warnings if spectators instruct from the sidelines.

“But I love cheering my kid on and helping her on the field when she is confused. Don’t take our right to cheer our kids on away from us!”
